A Boogietek Experimental Short Film
Hecatombe
George plays chess in his soliloquy while dying as a victim of terrorism.

About the Film
A man lies dying on the floor — not on a battlefield, not in a war zone, but in the quiet anonymity of an ordinary space. Jorge is a victim of terrorism. His body is failing. His mind is not.
In the soliloquy of his final moments, he plays chess — each move a meditation, each piece a memory, a choice, a life not yet surrendered. Hecatomb is a portrait of inner resistance: the refusal of the human mind to go quietly into violence.
Shot entirely in Miami, Florida, this experimental short film was made with a Canon 5D Mark III running Magic Lantern — an unauthorized open-source firmware that unlocked RAW video capabilities inaccessible through conventional means. A technology hack in service of a deeply human story.

Hecatombe was born inside a movement. In 2015, Miami filmmaker and maestro Cristian Proa launched the Reflections Movement — a collective initiative to amplify the voice of the South Florida film industry, recognizing the vast local talent and the young filmmakers determined to tell their stories on screen.
The call was simple: make a film. No waiting for perfect conditions. Jose Perdomo III's answer was a five-minute experimental short film shot entirely in Miami, proving that constraint is not the enemy of vision. It is its sharpest tool.
